Hi everyone,
I’m based in Argentina and I’m exploring the idea of starting a remote video editing / post-production business focused on clients in the US (businesses, brands, influencers).
The reason behind it is very personal:
My sister has been a professional editor for over 20 years, working at a top-tier studio, editing commercials and audiovisual content for some of the biggest global brands. She has deep expertise not only in editing, but also in storytelling, direction, pacing, and high-end commercial standards.
The problem is that she never really made the jump to build something of her own. She’s incredible at what she does, but has always worked inside agencies and studios. I want to help her turn that experience into a side business, which could eventually become her main business.
The idea is to:
• Operate remotely from Argentina (lower cost base) • Offer high-quality editing and post-production services to US-based clients • Position it as senior-level, agency-grade work, not cheap low-quality outsourcing
I’d love your thoughts on a few things:
1. How would you start validating this?
Cold outreach? Platforms? Networking? Content? Partnerships?
2. Pricing:
What do experienced editors / studios usually charge in the US?
• Hourly vs project-based? • Monthly retainers for creators or brands? 3. Remote structure:
How would you structure workflows, contracts, payments, revisions, time zones, etc. when working cross-border?
4. Positioning:
Would you sell this as a personal brand (editor-led) or as a small studio?
5. Anything you’d avoid or do differently if you were starting today?
If anyone here is a content creator, brand owner, or agency and might need help with editing, we’re also happy to connect or even do test projects.
I’m really trying to do this right and help her finally build something that’s hers, so any honest feedback is more than welcome.
Thanks in advance 🙏
