On New Year’s Eve, I used to eat 12 grapes at midnight (Spanish tradition), making a wish for each one.
Those midnight wishes never came true. I would quit the projects, business ideas and goals I had in mind after a month.
So last year I tried something different. I did not set any resolutions, but I started to write down my daily priorities, what I had in mind, how I felt, what I did. I reflected on my life and started to connect the dots.
I got tired of feeling that I was not prepared nor knowledgeable enough, before even trying, before doing the thing. The loop of preparing to live instead of actually living.
my ideas, projects and to-do’s were buried in my mind, different notebooks, word docs, my phone’s notes, etc. I was naive to think that I could hold all of this without something more structured, without a system.
So I built one.
Now my ideas, knowledge and the research I do connects with the projects I’m working on today. I finish things, not just get stuck in the planning, because I now have more clarity.
The feeling of ‘I must be forgetting something” is now gone.
For sure not everyone needs something like this, but if the brightest minds have a common place where they reflect, connect and build, it must be for a reason.
I’m just saying, if you start 2026 with another list of resolutions you will abandon by the end of the month, maybe the problem isn’t discipline. It could be that we keep trying to hold everything in disconnected places that we do not have enough clarity to actually do the things.
I really recommend to build a system, a Second Brain.
I’m happy to answer more specific questions (don’t want to make the post longer) and to know how do your goals and business ideas evolve after January
