I’m in a section of my dark fantasy where the FMC drops her name completely; as far as she is concerned, the person that name belonged to is dead. And because she lives in the wilds and there’s no one around who would use a name, she just… kinda never bothers to pick a new one. And for eight (timelapsed) years this is completely fine.
A chapter or so later (so 2,000-3,000 words) she is given a name by someone else who has been trying to interact with her and, as he doesn’t know her name, chooses something simple to call her as a placeholder name until he can ask her what her name is, except it ends up sticking because she no longer has a name.
How weird is it to have a couple of chapters where the main character doesn’t have a name?
