Setting up an educational charity and looking to chat with a cognitive/behavioural psychologist, both professional and non-professional. Any help?

Hey all! I’m quite active in the psychology space, working towards shifting conversations around topics like drug decriminalisation, prison rehabilitation and so on. I’m experienced in fighting for change and communicating why through education, fact, science etc., and I come from a design/marketing background.

I want to get in touch with those of you who study, both professionally and non-professionally, the attitude of misogyny and sexism within schools, primarily primary school. The UK government recently brought forward an improvement to the school curriculum where male students will now be taught how to respect the opposite sex, and teachers will be taught how to handle situations.

Personally, this is something that shouldn’t be taught as it should already be present in society, but women live in an unequal world, and therefore i believe it’s a good decision. However, will it work? Who dictates the degree of education for both students and teachers? Does it go far enough? Will the teachers be able to communicate it in a way that actually results in behavioural change, or will students just go back home to an environment that adds to their sexist beliefs and will watch content from an algorithm that is built to push it further?

The reason for me wanting to talk to those above is due to the fact that I plan to set up a charitable organisation that works directly with teachers, as well as students, to help lead educational reform around the topic. I want to team up with a psychologist down the line, and I want to build a team that are educated in the space, but also lead with empathy.

It’s a complex topic, and one that I would love a chat about. Plus, if you’re interested in working with me on this charity, I’d be open to having that conversation, too.

Instead of commenting, please get in touch through my DM if you’d want to learn more about my idea, or share your thoughts, provide advice and so on.

I’m very interested in setting this up. Education is led without much empathy on the students future, in my opinion. It is quite rigid and conservative, so I doubt that this new policy by the Labour government will be as effective as it COULD be with the right people behind it, pushing for better legislation, better education and better resources for those growing up.

Thank you!
