I live in a pretty quiet area near some woods, so when my motion cameras started going off around 2–4 AM last week, I assumed it was just animals. But when I checked the footage, there was a person walking along the edge of my yard. The first couple nights he stayed near the tree line, moving slowly like he was just passing through, so I tried to brush it off as someone cutting across properties or being weird. Then he started stopping. Just standing there facing my house for minutes at a time. Last night, I got another alert around 2:30 and opened the live feed right away—this time he was much closer, like halfway into the yard, completely still and pointed directly at the camera. I couldn’t make out his face clearly on the feed, so I took a screenshot to zoom in later.
When I looked at it, that’s when it stopped feeling normal. His face doesn’t look right—it’s not just blur, it’s like the lighting is wrong, like it’s coming from underneath even though there’s no light out there. The angle doesn’t make sense either; the camera is mounted above my garage pointing down, but his face looks way too clear for how far away he is in the frame. Right after I took the screenshot, I switched back to the live view and he was gone—no walking away, nothing. I checked the motion clip and it shows him entering the yard and stopping, but right when he turns toward the camera, the recording skips to an empty yard. I went out this morning to check and there were no footprints or signs anyone had been there. I’m probably going to have someone come check around the property because it could just be someone messing around or scoping houses, but the way he was standing there and the way his face looks in the image is what’s throwing me off.
