​Need help getting my first clients from 0

I’ve often been referred to as the “budget guy” or “spreadsheet guy” but it’s a bit tongue-in-cheek because they’ll tell you it’s not a bad characteristic.

That being said they say that you should start a business in something people ask you about often. That’d be this.

My idea is to just do a side thing where I get on a call and help people set up a budget that works for them. I’m not giving financial advice, I’m simply showing them how they can use a Google sheet to meet goals and see how they spend/save. Then I’d do a follow-up 2-3 months later.

Problem: I don’t know how I’d get my first client. I can try friends but they probably won’t be comfortable sharing info with me (always easier with strangers IMO). If anyone can advise on initial clients please do. After that I can run ads, I’ve done that before.
