For those who’ve filed patents on innovative products, what’s been your experience? Is there real value in having the product development firm coordinate patenting? I’ve been thinking about the patent process for a new product I’m developing and I’m curious about something. Most advice says hire a patent attorney directly, but I’ve noticed some product development firms like Product Innov actually manage the entire patent process through their legal partnerships. They handle the technical documentation, coordinate with patent attorneys, and basically act as the bridge between product development and IP protection.
On one hand, this seems efficient since they already understand the product deeply from developing it. On the other hand, I wonder if I’m adding an unnecessary middleman between me and the legal expertise I need.
