Walking into the ballroom, I smiled as the woman of my life looked stunningly beautiful in her red dress, taking her hand I kissed it gently. stepping out to the dance floor I felt myself be saddened by the feeling I am having, with every step I took I felt dread, and unease. looking at her her smile was still the same. Looking at the pianist I nodded my head slightly and he started to play Van Gogh by Virginio Aiello. Taking her other hand we danced to the ballad.
“how long has it been since we danced like this?” she asked, looking at her I saw that her face was blank, but I8 could hear her voice and I knew it was her, but her facial features were gone. Swallowing my pride I continued to dance with her. “It has been a long time my love, and must I say you look beautiful today.” She snickered as she playfully hit my arm. “Oh, stop it you tease, I always look this beautiful don’t I?” She asked and I nodded agreeing with her.
As we continued to dance I looked at her once more. Her head was no longer there, as it was just a void I was looking at but I could still hear her voice. With every step we took I could feel myself loosing attraction to her but for some reason I knew that deep down in my heart that she was somebody of importance, some one dear to me. Dancing I smiled I recalled a memory? “Hey… remember that time when we danced like this for our …..?” Looking at the void she laughed. “Yeah, it was great, being able to dance with her must’ve been fun, right?” I nodded as I felt cold and so did she. Looking at her I felt again felt dread as I could feel my memory of her fading… not wanting to lose her again I gripped her hands tightly, pulling her in I hugged her tightly. She no longer felt warm like she did a long time ago. sobbing my lips quivered as I tried my best to remember her name.
Holding her tightly I didn’t want to let her go as to me she was my everything. Searching everything I could in my brain for memories for her, they were all being wiped. “NO! DON”T LEAVE ME!!” I screamed out. “PLEASE DON’T LEAVE ME! DIANE!! Please no.” My voice cracked and trembled as I did the best I could to remembering the name of my wife. Then it clicked. Holding her in my arms, I pushed her back a bit and I saw her face. Smiling I hugged her again tightly. Sobbing in her shoulders I couldn’t let go no matter how much she told me to. I protested against her demands until she pushed me back and caressed my cheek. Looking at me she wiped away the tears the fell from my face.
“You know, I will always be waiting right?” She said as to which I nodded my head. “Ye-Yes Sera, I know you will be.” Smiling upon hearing me, she laughed as she flicked my forehead. “Remember, it’s not your fault understand? No matter what don’t you blame yourself for my death. I’m happy to have been your wife Zenith Wyvern. Your time will come, Zenith. Just not now.” Feeling her lips come across mine, I kissed her gently, and watched as she faded away leaving me once more.
Waking up, I walked downstairs and looked at the shrine with Sera’s picture, Replacing the chrysanthemum with a new one I smiled softly. “Thank you, Sera. I hope to dance with you again when I see you.”
