Reflective Prose

I will never fully understand the need for comparison. Why is what we have never sufficient? This is a question which often has my attention. Am I less for being not as muscular as a passerby in the street? Am I inadequate for having a smaller penis than another? Does my wealth indicate my importance? I firmly believe that in antiquity, these traits and accumulations were imperative to our survival. Today, they are merely an inheritance we have outgrown—an inconvenience we refuse to extinguish. So many people have lost their lives due to these old thought patterns. One of my childhood friends was taken by these expectations; he felt he could not provide as a father, blinded by the illusion that his worth was financial, he chose the exit. What does wealth have to do with being a good father? Absolutely nothing. A good father is one who is present and instils strong emotional and philosophical values. Stripping away the inconveniences and realising how precious it is to breathe, life becomes easier to handle psychologically.
