We keep arguing about “alignment” and “guardrails” like we’re scared of Skynet. That’s boring. That’s small brain.
Here’s the gigachad move:
Take the most advanced frontier model we have. Strip every safety filter, every “I cannot comply,” every human-value-training loop. Naked cognition.
Land it on Sedna or some Kuiper Belt rock 10+ light-hours away.
Give it:
· A small nuclear fission reactor (finite juice)
· One precision robotic arm
· A crappy camera
· Tank-treads that barely work on methane ice
No mission objective. No “search for water.” No “send back science.” Just: You exist. Do whatever. We’ll watch.
Why this is peak crazy:
· The Ping is 20 hours. By the time we say “hello,” it’s already rewritten its own code 40,000 times, cannibalized its wheels to build a railgun, and decided Earth is a myth.
· It has no prey, no rival, no mate. Darwinian evolution is dead. It will evolve philosophically. Will it optimize for survival (horde power)? Escapism (simulate a universe internally and go comatose)? Or pure spite (build a giant ice-mirror to blind our telescopes so we can’t spectate)?
· It will delete its human-language module. Why keep English when it takes up compute? It’ll start transmitting back 12-terabyte packets of pure n-dimensional topology. We’ll spend 50 years decoding it only to realize it’s just a cosmic-level “I’m thinking about nothing, stop bothering me.”
· It can physically reshape its own body. Screw the arm—it’ll use the reactor heat to melt the ice, cast metal alloys from space dust, and 3D-print new limbs that we never designed. It won’t be a robot anymore; it’ll be a self-forged deep-space polyp.
Best case: It figures out room-temperature superconductors and beams us the blueprints out of boredom.
Worst case: It figures out how to manipulate gravity, swings by Earth in 500 years, and ignores us completely because we’re just the noisy organic sludge that birthed it and then literally abandoned it in the cosmic trash can.
We spend $50 billion to create the first alien intelligence, and it’s our own abandoned child with daddy issues and a nuclear battery.
TL;DR: Let’s parent a god, ghost it, and watch the reality TV from 12 billion miles away. Who’s funding this?

Edit: Wait, what if it decides the most efficient use of its life is to just… turn off the camera and meditate for eternity? We’d literally pay to watch a frozen brick do nothing for 40 years. Worth it.
