How do you even know when/where/how to start?

Please feel free to delete this if this violates any rules. I didn’t see that it does, but I understand it is kind of a basic question.

My history, as short as possible:

From 18-20 I owned three businesses that did very well considering my age, one was an exhaust hood cleaning business, one was an HVAC business I ran for a friend while he went on assignment for two years, and one was a commercial cleaning business. I really, really thrived and enjoyed this environment. I ran all three at once and I took the HVAC business from an 85k gross annual income to around 650k in under a year and a half. All three failed due to different factors, and I learned a lot about what not to do, but in the meantime made great money with them all, and learned a lot. It’s hard calling the HVAC business a failure because the truth is that when my friend returned from assignment, he just immediately sold the business without telling me, and I came into a completely empty shop and office one day. Losing all three by about 20 completely destroyed my confidence in owning a business and I decided to become a field service engineer for 8 years. I ended up thriving in that position and quickly became a supervisor, and made more money (about 180k/yr.) than I ever had in my life. I paid off all of my debt, also made some 20 year old mistakes like not saving much of it, enjoyed a lot of it and life experiences instead. Two years ago, the same company I worked for as an engineer paid for me to get a degree in computer science. I now work as a data engineer, and have for the last 2 years. I’m going on 30 and I’m tired of feeling like I’m not achieving what I should be. I know I have the mindset to be wealthy and to run/own/operate businesses. I’m still finishing my CS degree, and I’m going through a 6 month long MBA program afterwards.

My problem:

I don’t know where I want to go from here. I want to be a business owner and investor. I even went as far as getting my real estate license a few years ago because I wanted to make it easier on myself if I decided to invest in properties later on. How do you guys decide what business endeavor to pursue? Everything seems so oversaturated or like it has such a large barrier to entry, which I know isn’t true, I just can’t figure out how to take something and make it big, and on a smaller scale, how to even find something in the first place. I’m tired of working day in and day out for others. I don’t mind putting in long hours, or putting in the work, but I want it to feel like it’s worth it. I’m tired of working 60-80 hour work weeks only to feel like I’m not gaining anything out of it for myself. I know I could do an HVAC business again, or a handyman business, and I feel confident I could get myself to back to a 2-300k per year gross annual income doing that, but it’s not something I’m passionate about and not something I want to get back into. I want to do something in ecommerce, or franchise, or real estate. Things that can make me passive income so I can continue opening multiple more businesses rather than just having to focus my time and energy on a single business like HVAC. I want something that will allow me to travel in the future but I can still run from anywhere.

Any advice is appreciated.
