Product idea: Japanese Milk bread

Hi there,

So I’m looking to get some feedback on a product idea for a retail product in the UK.

Typically as a consumer when I look at the bread section it’s pretty boring and all the same. White, wholemeal, sourdough, brioche and that’s pretty much it and has been like that for the past 20 odd years.

So my idea is to add a new offering into the bread market and introduce Japanese milk bread. I’ve started to see more of this used in sandwiches and viral food bloggers but there hasn’t actually been a retailer product into the market. Now after tasting many loafs of bread the actually product is not as sweet as brioche but has a much lighter texture due to the use of milk.

After some research, in the Uk the availability is very limited and with loafs being relatively expensive. Mainly only artisan or Japanese bakeries selling this product.

Now I’ve benchmarked recipes against other bakeries in Japan and Australia and the recipe can vary form region but the basis of the recipe typically is the same. I’m still in the infancy of the product but i was wondering if it’s something you would think would have legs?
