Retirement Community In South East Asia

The cost of retirement (healthy care, living expenses, etc.) in the US and many countries in the West has become untenable for many. Could there be a market for affordable homes catering to retirees from the West?

In particular, the idea is to build communities near secondary cities in the Philippines where retirees can enjoy a mix of rural and urban lifestyle. The idea is to place these communities near more affordable secondary cities where there is easy access to urban amenities such as hospitals and malls and, at the same time, near non-urban recreational areas (surf spots, beaches, etc.)

There are many alternative countries in South East Asia but I think the Philippines has its advantages. One example of an advantage is that Filipinos generally can communicate in English even in the provinces.

The price point is probably going to range from USD 30,000 to USD 60,000 depending on the size. Ownership is long term leasehold (Fifty years since that is the legal limit for foreigners with the option of extending to 99 years if a proposed bill for 99 years lease gets approved. Foreigners are not allowed to own land in the Philippines.)

Thanks in advance for your inputs.
