Lost my job, thinking of starting something small on my own

Hey everyone,
So a few weeks ago, I got laid off pretty unexpectedly. I’ve been applying like crazy since then, but nothing’s really sticking yet. I’ve got a little bit of savings to get by for a while, but it’s honestly been tough not knowing what’s next.

Lately I’ve been thinking… what if I just try to start something on my own? Nothing huge—maybe just something small that could grow over time. I’ve always been good with my hands and thought about offering basic handyman services, or even something online like reselling thrift finds or doing simple digital design work (I used to mess with Canva and basic video editing for fun).

Has anyone else here started something after losing a job? What helped you get going in the beginning, especially when money and confidence were low? Would really appreciate any advice or ideas from people who’ve been there.
