TLDR: I’m very good at creating board games and am looking for more ways to monetize it.
Hey, in 2018 I designed my first board game, in 2020 I started a business helping game designers through organising playtests of their games and developing their games, which has done well enough to be my main income and still allowing me to have enough free time to continue developing my skills.
Since then I’ve worked on 300+ games, have 5 of my own games published through traditional publishing and feel like I have the ability to make a solid game or identify issues in games very easily.
I have a baby on the way now and am looking for other ways to monetize my skill. One direction I’m looking towards is designing games for companies looking to make products that fit their brand rather than for publishers.
With traditional board game publishers, you rely on royalties and there is a very long wait between creating the game and receiving payment (provided the game does well). I would like to have more short term projects, where I am paid on completion of the game a negotiated fee.
I’m open to any ideas and suggestions.
