Why do anything at all?

wake, eat, work, sleep, wait for the moons fall.

do it again all next week, why do anything at all?

the sun will rise regardless if i live or die,

so why do anything at all?

if everything is fleeting and all i love is ceasing, tell me, what’s the meaning in keeping my heart beating?

wake, eat, work, sleep, wait for the moons fall. let these thoughts seep, a riddle i cannot solve.

dream a dream of a god standing tall.

from beneath it’s feet, up i call

“you’ve got gaul!”

“with every being on your beckon call, why make life just to kill it all?

how can i hold anything but vitriol

for that which hosts this vicious free for all?”

a wince of resolve began to crawl across the face of a “god”, so called.

the rebuttal erupts from it’s gut, but its words cut subtly, in and up.

“have faith, child of mine!

please, relax your mind,

sit down and unwind.”

it coos with a loving chime.

“you must wait for the sunrise!

let the morning shine,

fate’s daily reprise,

cleanse you of days behind.

enjoy your time,

live your life!

feast your eyes

on beauties alive.

let that which you love

meet its demise

to a place sublime

with grace, divine.

fore without shade,

there is no light;

to not degrade is

in spite of new life.”

my eyes open wide.

once blinded by the mundane blight, i revel in newfound sight.

but it can’t be that simple, right?

“but what am i to do with all this time?

“live till i’m dead?

“wait till my body is shed?”

with a smile, they said,

“why, do anything at all.”
