Over the past few days, I’ve been working on something deeply personal, a problem that’s everywhere but often ignored.
A few years ago, an associate of mine joined a major fintech as a junior software engineer. She was smart, motivated, and eager to learn. But with no structured learning path, unclear delegation, and little growth guidance from seniors, she eventually resigned.
And her story isn’t unique.
Many companies face the same risk when key employees leave, not just losing people, but also losing valuable knowledge. Often, no one else fully understands the systems, the context, or the “why” behind what was built.
On the other hand, employees want to grow, learn, and be valued, not just be managed. When that doesn’t happen, retention drops, motivation fades, and mobility rises.
At the heart of it all is knowledge sharing- getting the right information to the right person at the right time, to keep both people and businesses growing.
Even beyond companies, communities, and learning groups face this too. They need a more effective way to transfer knowledge smoothly across their teams, instructors, and learners.
That’s what led me to build Semis, a platform designed to make knowledge sharing and team growth effortless.
I’ve realised that tools like Slack, Telegram, or even Notion weren’t built for this specific need, and that’s why so many teams still struggle.
