Hey everyone,
I’ve been living in Canada for over 10 years, and one thing that has always come up is people asking me where I get certain things — jackets, electronics accessories, organizers, small home gadgets, even my swim cap once 😂.
My answer is almost always: “China.”
But actually buying from Chinese platforms (Taobao, 1688, Tmall, etc.) can be a nightmare for many people here — language, payment methods, logistics, customs, etc.
So… I ended up building a tiny project called BuyFromChina.ca, basically a reverse-proxy buying service for Canadians.
How it works (super simple):
You find a product on any website (or just a picture/screenshot). You send it to me through the site. I track down the exact item, confirm the price, and send you a quote. If you’re happy, you pay → I purchase it → it gets shipped directly to you. Delivery usually takes around 10–14 days.
That’s it. No complicated imports, no Chinese payment accounts, no “can’t ship to Canada” issues.
Why I built it:
Honestly? Because people around me kept asking for help anyway.
And I thought: there must be more Canadians who want access to the same stuff — affordable, creative, high-quality products that just aren’t available locally.
What I’m hoping to get from Reddit:
Would a service like this be useful to you? What would make you trust a platform like this? What concerns would you have? Any suggestions for improving the process?
This is still an early-stage personal project, so I genuinely appreciate any feedback — positive or critical.
Thanks for reading, and if you’re curious, feel free to try it out or ask me anything! 🙌
