Is this a crazy idea? My partner and I are service industry pros.( My partner also has electrical maintenance and plumbing experience so he can fix anything and he also knows this old building really well.) We have worked in a small remote community for about 5 years now. We started running a small inn this past summer season.
The inn is up for sale but no buyers have jumped at it. It’s been on the market for about a year now. It is very farm to table. We grow and raise everything.
There is a small restaurant with a bar and 11 rooms including 1 suite and 1 ADA room.
The owners have approached us about maybe leasing the business from them going forward so they can be fully done. We ran things this summer but staffing was very difficult in the restaurant. The idea that I have are doing events at an all inclusive price based on what clients are looking for. We do get a-lot of event inquires for weddings but the owners are not interested in doing them. I did get them to do one small one this past year for 20 people and we made about 16 grand no rooms included. We are taking the winter to travel and think things over. I’m not sure how realistic this idea and would love to hear advice and opinions.
We have a really good savings and people in the community that would back us. The community here loves this place and does not want to see it close. We have never owned our own business besides small pop ups we do around the area.
