​The importance of Poetry and imagination

You may judge a society by its Poets. For when Poetry is lost, it shows we have fallen in cold hard times. Just give me the cold hard facts is the modern cry. But if we forget how to think and feel. Or to be moved with emotion at the sunset. Or to feel pity for those who are hurting, then we have lost our humanness .

Don’t underestimate the imagination. It’s a powerful thing to see is through hard times. There has been stories of great endurance , by men and women in miserable circumstances , who have written great novels and great classics, longing for better times. Perhaps Beethoven has written his best works after he had lost his hearing . When we lose something we realize how precious it really was.

In your hard times, keep dreaming. Keep on imagining. Write your poetry. Paint that beautiful sunset, and we will find sweet release for our hearts even in the hardest of times.
