During these last couple of years, I have lost almost every interest in playing video games and watching sports.
When I was younger, I followed every sport that was available for me, Basketball, American Football, European Football, Tennis, UFC, Boxing and more.
There were a times that I stayed up all night watching games and early in the morning I had a school to attend. Lot of times I was exhausted early in the morning in the school and on the college.
It took tool on me, physically and in the school. Bad grades, feeling tired and lot of other things that are not worth mentioning it.
I was betting, gambling and it was fun to watch those games when you bet on them. Especially when there is last game that decides are you going to win your bet or not.
This applies also for video games; I was a big gamer and gambler. I stayed lot of nights also playing video games. My favorite game was and still is The Elder Scrolls V — Skyrim.
I would be lying if I told you that I stopped playing video games or watching sports at all.
I still watch sports or play some video games sometimes, but they do not satisfy me as much as when I was younger.
Because when you are younger you think that playing video games or watching sport is something important, that you will miss something special if you don’t watch the game or play one, and lot of times it keeps you away from important things like homework, mowing grass, doing something more important than playing or watching games.
I know those stuff can make you a good and memorable moments, like one of mine memorable moments was when Manchester United won the Champion League in Rome 2008 on penalties.
I was in Lourdes, France with my family on vacation and I remember vividly everything about that game.
Now I would like that I had learned new language or learn how to play piano rather than remembering that night because it is more useful in nowadays for me than that memory of a football match which brought me too much joy at that time.
It is not worth is at the end of the day. You will get satisfaction for a day, but learning new skill is something that will stay with you forever.
Rather than playing or watching games now, I have started reading, writing, learning new languages and hiking.
Because in the past when I watched games all the time, I stayed at home over the weekend and spent it in front of the TV.
I also bought camera to take photos on those hiking trips, and I know in the future it will bring me more joy and satisfaction instead of staying at home watching or playing games.
My advice for a younger me would be: Learn something new every time you have a chance, free yourself from typical thinking and be persistent with it.
