What’s the most viable low-budget entry point for a punching machine startup?

I’m exploring a low-budget startup idea and could really use some outside perspectives. I’m thinking of setting up a punching machine outside a local pub as a small pay-per-use attraction, but I’m working on a tight budget and trying to choose the most viable entry point.

Right now, I’m torn between two options: buying an older refurbished punching machine from a local seller, or going for a new aftermarket machine that’s often sold at discounted prices on platforms like Amazon, Alibaba, and eBay. On paper, the aftermarket machines look attractive because they’re cheaper, easier to find, and sometimes come with basic warranties. At the same time, I keep hearing that refurbished older machines are generally more durable and better built, even if they come with some wear.

My main concerns are reliability, long-term maintenance costs, and how well either option would hold up in an outdoor or semi-outdoor pub environment. I’m also thinking about customer perception. Does the machine feel solid and legit enough to attract people to try it and keep coming back?

For anyone who has started small, worked with arcade-style machines, or dealt with refurbished versus aftermarket equipment, which option seems more viable for a low-budget startup like this, and why?
