​8″ long sausage shaped sticky black tubes, about 2-3oz in weight, wrapped in wax paper

My wife recently won an auction that also came with random garage junk. One of which was a brown wax paper with long sausage shaped tubes that yes, look like poop but don’t smell like feces or anything organic. They are slightly sticky and resinous with an oily smell and tar like consistency. Cutie/ mandarin for scale (just ate the last banana) It was in a box with a random of tools like a dremel tool, chains, bag of old garage door openers, nails, tacks and keys.
