​Received this in the mail. Circular rings on a string? Seems to be aluminum and plastic with unique ID numbers on each ring.

i have the feeling they’re for bird identification / tracking, but can’t be entirely sure. it arrived in the mail from a random warehouse in new york. i’ve never ordered from this place and hadn’t even heard of it until i received the package from them. any and all help appreciated!
