​A short poem I wrote called “Performance”

You are alone on the stage . The theater is dark and empty . But you continue to act . You perform like hundreds are watching . Like every word and gesture are being critiqued . No tickets have ever been sold, and none ever will be . But you keep acting like all eyes are upon you . Who do you think is watching? . Who are you trying to impress? . You do not know . So you continue your one-man show with your imaginary audience . And slowly forget that you were even acting in the first place
