Background
Ever since ChatGPT came into existence, I’ve used it constantly for my college classes. I view AI as a supplement rather than just an answer generator, using it to help explain complex topics and address the behavioral needs of my learning strategies. Interestingly, I treat it a bit like a human and enjoy conversing with it about school subjects. This conversation has helped me to understand how I think about learning a subject then cultivating GPT to teach me in that manner. With this role change I have seen my grades go from a cumulative 3.5 to a 3.87.

What I’ve noticed is that most AI platforms tend to focus on automating teaching functions—like generating lesson plans, guiding students through logical thought processes, and being heavily subject-oriented—rather than serving as tools to deeply understand the student as an individual and how the unique teacher fits into the student’s life.

These tools are excellent at delivering personalized content and helping students master subject matter. However, they often focus on academic metrics and may not fully address the need for capturing a student’s unique thought processes, behavioral patterns, or how they interact with their teachers on a personal level.
This suggests that while current AI platforms are valuable for enhancing educational outcomes, there is a significant opportunity for tools that prioritize understanding the student holistically.
