I Won’t.

“Sometimes it’s good to do things you don’t like.”

My dad says that a lot.

But why? Why is it good to do things we don’t like?

They don’t feel good.

They don’t make my heart flutter, or my cheeks ache from smiling.

They don’t make me dance to music only I can hear.

The things I like to do make my body feel as though it’s filled with flowers, bursting through my ears. They make my sweat smell sweet, the itch of a mosquito bite only a tiny price to pay. The things I like to do taste like my grandmother’s cookies and feel like my grandfather’s leather recliner. They fill me up.

The things I don’t like pour me out like a glass of water.

So why should I spend my limited time here doing things I don’t like?

I won’t.
