​Importance of USPs

Hi everyone, a bit about me, I’m a 15 year old on my next bigger and better business thing. I’ve got some decent ish design skills and the ability to 3d print things. I’ve been thinking of finding something to 3d print and make a master mold out of and start producing them myself. One of my ideas are phone cases… nothing special I likely won’t go through with it because I can’t make them super protective without a decent amount of starting cash.

I usually share my ideas with a friend and my mum who is also a business owner however they both seem to think that my ideas have to be incredibly different and have some grand USP. I’m just seeing if you guys actually do think I need to have a USP for my products, I’m thinking about products like lamps for example, no body really buys your lamp over someone else’s for any reason other than it being a different design that suits there aesthetic taste. So yeah are USPs that important that I should completely give up my ideas?
