I am a 20-year-old B.Tech Cybersecurity student currently in my third year and is going to graduate in 2028, so I have about one and a half years left.
As I had some savings from 10th to 12th, I saved up to around ₹2,00,000 from ₹20,000. I wasn’t a complete hermit, but I managed to cut down expenses while earning some extra money on the side by giving out small loans to some friends and earning interest.
Now, I have realized that it might not be wise to save this amount of money for 1.5 years until I graduate from college. I want to make investments right now that would help me create opportunities for myself, whether it’s in business, or in terms of experience, brand value, or network.
Meanwhile, I am also facing dilemmas about my future career, as I feel insecure about my abilities as a software or cybersecurity professional due to AI taking over most of the jobs available today, while I still have to graduate in 2028 and most of my knowledge about Kali Linux and other cybersecurity experiences of today would be useless.
So, the questions I have are:
How should I best invest ₹2 Lakh in order to make the money work for me rather than the other way around?
Should I rather make my own business or invest in my skill set?
What skills relating to software, AI, and/or cybersecurity would be useful until 2028?
What would be the best 18-month plan for someone like me who wants to become successful in terms of money and profession before graduation?
