Hi all, As the title states, I am working on starting my export business for the raw cotton trade. My goal is to be a middleman, buy the cotton directly from manufacturers, and sell it to textile/yarn factories in Turkey . I have some connections and friends who are in the textile business, and finding a buyer would be easy for me. I understand that freight costs, customs and other expenses will add up but as a start-up I am not seeking huge profits .My goal is to send one 20ft. container as a start.
I tried contacting cotton manufacturers in the US, via email to find out about pricing of bale cotton but I haven’t received a response yet. I feel like I will be ignored because these companies are huge and they don’t deal with small purchases and some of them already work with middleman to sell their products. I’ve also tried reaching out to smaller cotton farms but that didn’t work either.
What would you recommend? What would be the best way to access manufacturers to get some quotes on Bale cotton pricing?
If there’s anyone who is experienced in exporting goods, how difficult is it to make a profit?
