They have 3 days to give you an invoice, or else you can take them to court and have a marshal take money out of their bank account.

They should pass this law, just for the sake of symmetry, and it’ll be fine because that’s something that will never, ever happen.

EDIT: Okay. A lot of people seem to be confused, and being confused makes them very angry. Because this is r/CrazyIdeas, GODDAMMIT, and is the last place to be fucking around. So let me clarify, because this is a really, really important issue. By “fails to collect,” I don’t mean “you succeed in not paying.” I mean, they don’t collect. They don’t bill you. They don’t send a letter. They don’t have Luigi come say ‘hi’ with a tire iron. They don’t let Marjorie Taylor Greene off her leash and sic her on your kitten. Or, if you send them a check anyway on the off chance that they might still want one, they say “Fuck this noise” and tear it up and feed it to Marjorie Taylor Greene who is still peckish after only one kitten.

I deeply regret the misunderstanding. I did not mean to minimalize the terrible plight of the Landlords of the World who are struggling to scrape by, many of them having to own two or three buildings just to put their 23 adopted African orphan children through medical school. Probably many of them are homeless. Those poor, poor bastards, I’m so sorry.

I sincerely hope that this apology is enough. I appeal to the better angels of our nature, and pray that we all can move past this ugly incident of perceived quasi-socialism to work together in peace and understanding and maybe serve as an example to the Middle East or at least get everybody’s fucking knees to stop jerking.
