The world had not commenced when my eyes opened

The skies did not always cry the same as I

The earth had not shaken or beaten as my heart

The moment your eyes closed

But that’s okay hearts are beating anew

And old hearts stopping to rest

The world continues to spin

I continue to grow

Storms continue to pass

Waves will always push

The sun wakes me every morning

And the moon comforts me as I sleep

I know now that there’s a part of you within me

I hear it in the way I laugh

I see it in the way I dress

I hear it in the way I talk

I feel it in the way I cry

I taste it in the fruit we used to eat
