Tried turning a poem into a rap song for the first time:
the white devil
now listen ‘cause you’re gonna hear/ about the dark shit in my life/ you’re gonna know the things i fear/ you’ll feel my worry, feel my strife/ now listen close, just use your ears/ i need to vent, is that alright?/ cause venting is a way to heal/ and there’s lots of that to do tonight/
because/
a girl i love is smoking crack/ begs for money like it’s an attack/ if you live in my place there’s rules against that/ no crack, no smack, no tempting traps/ her story’s more than kinda sad/ in fact it’s fucking tragic/ she should’ve never touched that crap/ but now it’s far too late for that/ so now/ i’m racked with guilt and burning pain/ with pure regret and uncut shame/ cause i’m the one deserving of the blame/ the one who led her down that way/ i introduced her to those crazies/ to those who’d take her life away/ without them she might be ok/ but now addiction’s here to stay/
alright/
the devil’s almost pearly white/ he crackles in the flame/ the devil wants to end your life/ he’s sorrow, guilt and shame/ the devil tells you he’s alright/ he lies so he can stay/ the devil wants to see you die/ he’ll make your soul decay/
sometimes/
i pray for god to help her fight/ to hold her hand on sleepless nights/ i hope he sends a light so bright/ it brings her freedom from that plight/ but what if it’s just empty skies/ that hear me beg and plead and cry?/ is no one up there, standing by/ to help her put this shit aside?/ she lied/ she lied and she denied it all/ but had no money anymore/ i’d lend her 5, a 10, a score,/ knowing what she’d use it for/ i saw reality of course/ but tried to keep the truth ignored/ until one day i said ‘no more’/ and took the key to my front door/
what’s safe?/
the devil’s almost pearly white/ he crackles in the flame/ the devil wants to end your life/ he’s sorrow, guilt and shame/ the devil tells you he’s alright/ he lies so he can stay/ the devil wants to see you die/ he’ll make your soul decay/
of course/
it caused my soul to fall apart/ to kick her out, it broke my heart/ she’s 22, she’s sweet, she’s smart/ and now her slow death’s gonna start/ i want stop the process but i can’t/ the light inside her’s going dark/ and the bad thing is i played a part/ in this, in killing her last chance/ stay calm/ my darling friend i beg of you/ just stop this now, please start anew/ and turn to face what’s really true/ you need to change, and grow, and do/ or you will not live till 32/ you’ll pass away, all cold and blue/ with no one having any clue/ except the paramedic crew/
don’t die/
the devil’s almost pearly white/ he crackles in the flame/ the devil wants to end your life/ he’s sorrow, guilt and shame/ the devil tells you he’s alright/ he lies so he can stay/ the devil wants to see you die/ he’ll make your soul decay/
so now/
no reconciliation can we see/ we’re just no longer ‘you and me’/ you think i kicked you out for reece/ but i was acting out of fear/ the fear that if i smoked some gear/ i’d go full crackhead in a year/ i did it for my safety, for my peace/ even though it hurt beyond belief/ i mean/ there might not be a friendship now/ but my care is gonna stick around/ and even if you leave this town/ my concern for you will never drown/ no matter what you do i’m proud/ you deserve a fucking crown/ cause you keep surviving life somehow/ so i guess i’m gonna see you round/
listen
the devil’s almost pearly white/ he crackles in the flame/ the devil wants to end your life/ he’s sorrow, guilt and shame/ the devil wants to see you die/ so you need to make a change/ or the devil’s going to end your life/ with sorrow, guilt, and shame/
